Splash for Cash to help Big Dig

The Friends of Morrison Swimming Splash For Cash will be held August 6, 2005 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The Friends of Morrison Swimming, a non-for-profit organization, have made the commitment to hold multiple fundraisers throughout the year(s) with all proceeds dedicated to deepening the Morrison High School Swimming Pool Project. The Splash for Cash will be an opportunity for all area swimmers to obtain pledges from the community for each lap swim, or obtain a flat donation toward deepening the pool.

In 2002 the National Federation of Swimming recommended and instituted a minimum 4’ depth ruling at the starting block end for sanctioned meets. Because of this ruling the Morrison High School Public Pool does not meet this required depth level and is too shallow to host competitive meets for the high school, junior high and Morrison Seahorse Swim Club and Illinois Swimming Association sponsored events.

The Splash for Cash events will be as follows:
10 and under will be in the water for 1 hour – 8-9 a.m.
13 and under will be in the water for 1 hour 15 minutes – 9-10:15 a.m.
18 and under will be in the water for 1 hour 30 minutes – 10:15-11:45 a.m.
Hall of Fame Ceremony – 12 noon – 12:30 p.m. Adult Lap Swim – 1-2 p.m.
Relay Events – 2:15-3:15 p.m.

Remember you may either pledge per lap (down and back) or make a flat donation of $5, $10, $15, etc.

When asking for pledges, the following information may be helpful.
In 1 hour, a 10 and under swimmer could swim up to 500-2000 yards (20-80 laps).
In 1 hour and 15 minutes, a 13 and under swimmer could swim up to 3,500 yards (140 laps).
In 1 hour and 30 minutes, an 18 and under swimmer could swim up to 5,500 yards (220 laps).

Please invite everyone you contact to plan on attending this event on August 6 and watch for details of all the days events the Splash for Cash will have to offer.
