STEVE MARTIN’S UNDERPANTS ON DISPLAY AT TLP

Comedian, actor and author Steve Martin’s The Underpants will have its area premier on the Timber Lake Playhouse stage, bringing sidesplitting laughs to this season’s audiences. This wonderful blend of slapstick comedy and sophisticated wit makes its debut with a limited engagement from July 14th thru July 23rd only!

Written by one of America’s top funny men, “wild and crazy guy” Steve Martin, this splendid comedy is the story of the hilarity that follows when a beautiful woman’s underpants accidentally drop to her ankles … in public! Never underestimate the power of a glimpse of lingerie!

Guest director Linda Gillum comes from Chicago for this magnificent production. Currently a free-lance director and Artistic Associate of Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, Ms. Gillum has directed all over Chicago at such theatres as the Lyric Opera, Court, Mercury, Northlight and, most recently, the critically acclaimed Accidental Death of an Anarchist for the Next Theatre.

The Underpants is about Louise Maske, a bored housewife, whose life suddenly changes because of a pair of loose bloomers. Actress Victoria Watson, Emma Goldman in TLP’s recent Ragtime, will fill Louise’s infamous pantaloons. Clay Sanderson, currently baring his all in The Full Monty, plays Louise’s beleaguered husband Theo.

Actors Justin Sample (most recently seen in the title role of The Graduate) and Matthew Callahan portray Louise’s unwanted suitors. Also returning, after playing Georgie in The Full Monty, is Erin Anderson as the hysterical nosey neighbor.

Also, looking ahead, TLP will present a new musical adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, sponsored in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. And tickets are going fast for TLP’s season closer, the long-awaited sequel Late Nite Catechism 2, or “Sometimes We Feel Guilty Because We Are Guilty.”

Tickets are $17, and students with valid ID are only $8. New special Sunday night performances begin at 6:30 p.m. with tickets at a reduced rate of only $15! Ask about special discounted rates for groups of 12 or more. To reserve tickets for any of the performances, call the Timber Lake Playhouse Box Office between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily at (815) 244-2035.
