TLP will be one of the first to go The Full Monty |
|
Artistic Director Brad Lyons is proud to announce that Timber Lake Playhouse will be one of the first theatres in the country to produce the exhilarating new “feel good” musical The Full Monty from June 30th thru July 10th. Nominated for ten Tony Awards when it opened on Broadway in 2001, TLP nabbed the rights to this comedy only months after it concluded its National Tour. THE FULL MONTY, based on the film of the same title, is the story of six men who lose their jobs and are forced to strip to earn a living. To be able to compete with the physically superior Chippendales dancers, these men boast they’ll go “The Full Monty” … they will bare it all! Mr. Lyons, who will direct the production, addresses the show’s titillating content: “Though it’s slightly naughty and definitely for mature audiences, it’s not as coarse as one might think. The characters are steel workers, so their language is very blue-collar: They’re tough guys and they swear. But at its core, THE FULL MONTY is a heartwarming story about families … and men who will do what it takes to support their wives and children.” Taylor Buice, who had the audiences rolling in the aisles last summer with his portrayal of Moonface Martin in Anything Goes, comes to TLP from the National Tour of THE FULL MONTY to star and help recreate much of the original choreography. Chicagoan Daniel Riley returns hot off his performance as Coalhouse Walker, Jr. in TLP’s recent RAGTIME, to “show another side of my personality,” he says with a smile. Rounding out the stripping sextet will be Adam Henry (Ragtime’s Henry Ford), Justin Banta (Ragtime’s Younger Brother), Clay Sanderson (Ragtime’s Father); and choreographer Andrew Parker Greenwood (Ragtime, Cats, Hair, Anything Goes). Keeping these former steelworkers employed in their newly found profession are Erin Anderson (Ragtime), Ella Seet (The Graduate’s Elaine Robinson), Sarah Hinzman (Ragtime’s Mother), and Alexandra Ausman (Ragtime’s Evelyn Nesbit, Cats, Hair). Six men with nothing to lose. Will they dare to go ... THE FULL MONTY? And coming July 14-23 is Steve Martin’s new comedy, THE UNDERPANTS. Tickets are $17, and students with valid ID are only $8. A four-pack subscription is now on sale for $57, a savings of $11, and is good for the remaining four mainstage productions. New special Sunday night performances begin at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are at a reduced rate of only $15! Ask about special group rates for groups of 12 or more. (THE FULL MONTY makes a great “ladies’ night out!”) To reserve your tickets for any of the performances, call the Timber Lake Playhouse Box Office between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily at (815) 244-2035.
