Whiteside County Fair August 16-20

The Whiteside County Fair is getting ready for another five days of great entertainment this year, beginning the morning of Tuesday, August 16th and running right through Saturday, August 20th finale. The 135th annual fair, held at the fairgrounds in Morrison, IL, will start and end with a bang, with the crowd-pleasing demolition derbies remaining as the opening and closing evening grandstand events.

C-Bar Rodeo will be keeping your attention with a wild bull riding show on Thursday, August 18th at 7:00 p.m. Don’t miss the action at the Whiteside County Fair.

Traditional grandstand favorites return—the draft horse hitches and speed events on Wednesday, August 17th as the featured entertainment, five classes of souped-up tractors and trucks taking over on Friday, August 19th, and on Saturday, August 20th, the second demolition derby will finish off the fair’s five-day evening attractions. As always, the fair board strives to provide something for everyone, young and old alike.

Daily free events include the new Buck Trout stage shows, children’s bicycle giveaways and Oakhill Petting Zoo, which features a variety of unique and exotic animals.

The popular bingo tent will be open at 7 p.m. each night of the fair. For those with a sweet tooth, chances will be sold at a nominal cost to test entrants’ luck at winning a tasty treat in the “cake-pie walks” held Tuesday through Friday at 4 p.m. at the culinary department in the large exhibition hall north of the secretary’s office.

Harness racing—with track records up for grabs—takes over the racetrack Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the action starting each day at 1 p.m. Children’s pedal pulls again are scheduled at noon on Tuesday and Saturday at 12 noon, with six divisions for youngsters ages 4 through 12.

Wilson Family Rides will entertain the kids and adults again this year with their outstanding carnival and midway attractions, providing a festive and fun time for everyone.
