Local Services for Janette Carpenter |

A local memorial service will be held Friday, July 8, 2005 at 10 a.m. at the Morrison Presbyterian Church for Janette Carpenter former Morrison resident. Janette passed away on Monday, June 13, 2005 at Fairacres Manor in Greeley, CO. She was 78 years old. A reception will be held at the church following the service. Burial of cremains will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll with family only. Edith Janette was born Aug. 17, 1926, in Mt. Carroll, IL, to John and Edith (Elliott) Derrer. She met her husband, Garth, while working in a canning factory, and they married on Aug. 24, 1946, in Mt. Carroll. She attended Beloit College in Beloit, Wis. When she married, she became equal partner and bookkeeper in Carpenter's Bakery until it was sold in 1976. She was bookkeeper for Smith Transportation then administrative assistant at Whiteside County Probation Department. She was active in church organizations. She loved her family and playing bridge. A former member of the Presbyterian Women's Club in Morrison, Mrs. Carpenter was an elder of the Presbyterian Church and a member of the Presbyterian Women's Guild. She was a member of the Milliken Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her husband, Garth Carpenter of Fairacres Manor; a daughter, Kathy of Milliken; two sons, Roger of Johnstown and John of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother, John Derrer and wife Arlene of Mt. Carroll; her in-laws, Max June, Randel and Betty Carpenter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother, Russell, and a sister, Phyllis, preceded her in death. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday June 16, 2005 at the Milliken Presbyterian Church. Memorial gifts may be made to the Milliken Presbyterian Church in care of Curtis Hill, 201 S.
