Barriers Get Face Lift |
|
Mitch Milnes of Color Star Painting prepares the two-ton cement barriers, which are used during the Demolition Derbies and Tractor Pull at the Whiteside County Fair. Jennifer Parker has created red, white and blue variations of stars and stripes to accent the appearance of the barriers. She will chalk the designs on the barriers and the Youth Group from Bethesda Lutheran Church will paint the finishing touches by filling in Jennifer’s designs. Randy Holesinger of Quality Ready Mix donated the barriers last year as a protective measure for the crowd during the derbies and pull. Color Star Painting donated their time and Spahn and Rose Lumber Company donated the paint being used for this project. The finished barriers will serve as a decorating asset during the Sesquicentennial Celebration weekend, July 8-10, 2005. The enhancement of the barriers will also be a birthday gift from the Sesquicentennial to the Whiteside County Fair as a birthday gift honoring the fair’s 135th birthday. by Dawn Zuidema, theCity1.com |
