Commencement services were held Sunday afternoon May 30 honoring the Class of 2005. Sixty-five graduating seniors marched into the gymnasium to the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance” played by the High School Band. Principal Janet Ward welcomed everyone to the 134th service. Rachel Fedyk quoted from the movie Legally Blonde “We did it” in her speech entitled “From the Past to the Future.” Kendal McDearmon followed Fedyk in his speech entitled, “Growing Up”. Morrison High School Robed Choir under the direction of Mrs. Darlene Palmer sang Paul Simon’s hit “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” The High School Band under the direction of David Bean, followed with a selection by Brian Balmages entitled “Beyond the Summit.” A tearful Amanda Smith told her class she would miss them in her speech entitled “Keep Smiling.” Larry Gatz was the final class speaker. His address was entitled “Stepping Stones.” Principal, Janet Ward announced the Salutatorians: Amanda Smith and Larry Gatz; and Valedictorian: Rachel Fedyk. Superintendent Dr. Jody Ware presented these students with scholarships from the Morrison Education Foundation. The class officers were: Bert Thorndike - Class President, Megan Tenboer - Class Vice President, Amanda Smith - Class Secretary, Stacy Belha - Class Treasurer, and Danielle Milnes – Class Historian.
