Police Report 05-23-05 |

On 05-15-05, at approximately 6:39 p.m., Morrison Police charged a 16-year-old juvenile with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile was charged after police responded to a fight between two other juveniles at the intersection of Park and Grape Streets. The juvenile was released to the custody of his parents. The case has been referred to the Whiteside County State’s Attorney’s Office for adjudication. The juvenile is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. On 05-16-05, at approximately 4:46 p.m., Kay A. Hood, Morrison, reported that three (3) Isabel Bloom sculptures and one (1) wreath were stolen from Kay Brandau Designs on East Main Street. The thefts occurred some time between May 10 and May 16. The total value of the items is estimated to be $229. On 05-17-05, at approximately 9:15 a.m., a representative of General Electric reported that 2,000 pounds of copper tubing were stolen from Building #14. The theft is believed to have occurred some time the previous weekend. The tubing is valued at approximately $2,000. On 05-18-05, at approximately 1:07 a.m., Morrison Police arrested Corey S. Shipma, 19, Sterling, on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, unlawful consumption of an alcoholic beverage, speeding, and improper lane usage. Shipma was arrested after being stopped at U.S. Route #30 near Bishop Road. Shipma was subsequently released on a notice to appear in court. Shipma is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. On 05-19-05, at approximately 8:05 a.m., a school bus driver from R.C. Smith reported that an item of drug paraphernalia was found on a bus that morning. On 05-19-05, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Marlene A. Buikema, Morrison, reported that her son’s bicycle was stolen from the bike rack at Southside School that afternoon. On 05-23-05, at approximately 6:00 a.m., Morrison Police charged a 13 and 14-year-old juvenile with unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm. The charges were the result of an investigation into the theft of a .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol from the juvenile’s parents the previous week. During the course of the investigation, police found that the 13-year-old juvenile had been carrying the loaded pistol around Morrison after the theft. Police have recovered the pistol. Both juveniles were released to the custody of a parent. The cases have been referred to the Whiteside County State’s Attorney’s Office for adjudication.
