On 05-03-05, at approximately 5:57 p.m., Morrison Police investigated a hit and run accident in the parking lot of Morrison Community High School. A car owned by Charles W. Bush, Morrison was struck by an unknown vehicle some time that afternoon. On 05-05-05, at approximately 7:14 a.m., Morrison Police investigated a burglary to a vehicle in the 300 Block of Florence Street. A truck owned by Thomas H. Beswick was entered by breaking a rear window. Items taken included cash, a briefcase, and a duffel bag filled with clothing. The briefcase, clothing and a small amount of cash were located by investigating officers a short distance from the burglary scene. The burglary is believed to have been committed some time after midnight the previous night. On 05-05-05, at approximately 8:14 a.m., Morrison Police investigated a vehicle burglary in the 400 Block of West Park Street. A truck owned by Gary E. Middleton was entered by breaking a rear window. Items taken include a cellular telephone and charger. The burglary is believed to have been committed some time after midnight the previous night. On 05-05-05, at approximately 11:40 a.m., Morrison Police investigated a two-vehicle crash in the 600 Block of West Lincolnway. A van driven by Jeffrey L. Jones, 37, Miles, Iowa, was westbound and stopped for a veh9icle making a left turn. A second westbound pickup driven by Harry K. Richmond, 81, Morrison, struck the rear of the Jones van. Jones and a passenger, Brian J. Jones, 39, Clinton, Iowa, both received minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene. Both vehicles sustained in excess of $500 damage and had to be towed from the scene. Richmond was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Richmond is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Morrison Police were assisted at the scene by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office. On 05-08-05, at approximately 2:07 p.m., Morrison Police responded to a burglary at the Morrison Community High School. Some time after midnight, more than one individual entered the building, through the woodshop. After their entry, the suspects took a guitar, and destroyed food and a microwave in the kitchen.
