Junior Preview Sheep Show

Four Illinois sheep associations have joined together to sponsor a Junior Preview Show on June 11 in Eureka, said Dick Cobb, University of Illinois Extension sheep specialist.

“This will be a fun, family-oriented, and educational show with small entry fees and great prizes and awards for all participants,” said Cobb. “A Sheep Challenge Course will be available for juniors – those under 21 years old – to compete in as well. In addition, a practice Young Sheep Producers contest will be held to help familiarize the juniors with the contest held at the State Fair each year.”

The show will be held at the 4-H and Farm Bureau Park, located 10 miles north of Interstate 74’s Goodfield exit or 10 miles west of the Interstate 39 El Paso exit. Sheep will be allowed to arrive Saturday morning and are released Saturday after the shows. Suffolk and Dorset check-in is at 7:30 a.m. with show time at 9:00 a.m. Southdown and non-Suffolk and non-Dorset club lambs check-in at 10:00 a.m. with the show at 12:30 p.m.
