Kiwanis Club Honors Twenty-three Seniors


Barney Habben welcomes everyone to the dinner.

Morrison Kiwanis Club sponsored a complimentary dinner at the United Methodist Church, Wednesday night, April 27, 2005 for Morrison High School seniors achieving high academic scores.

Barney Habben opened the dinner with a few words of praise for the students’ achievements and gave a word of prayer.

Barney stated, “Sports banquets are held for those participating in sports, the Kiwanis Club wanted to do something to recognize those who excelled in academics.”

The ladies of the United Methodist Church prepared the Salisbury steak dinner, salad and vegetables. Boston Cream pie was dessert.

Twenty-three high school seniors were honored. The seniors are chosen to attend with recommendations that after seven semesters they have obtained a grade point average (GPA) or 3.0 or higher.

The seniors who earned a certificate from the Kiwanis Club were: Amanda Beckstrom, Stacy Belha, Casey Beswick, Katie Bunt, Jennifer Eads, Rachel Fedyk, Megan Finneran, Larry Gatz, Cassie Hanson, Marcus Hill, Kaarina Jensen, Kendal McDearmon, Breanna Milnes, Danielle Milnes, Laura Prange, Brittany Smith, Kim Smith, Megan Tenboer, Bert Thorndike, Doug Vandermyde, Jamie Ware, Amanda Wiersema and Jessie Zuidema. Unable to attend but received honors were Stacy Belha and Marcus Hill.

Principal Janet Ward closed the meeting commending the students for their hard work and thanked the Kiwanis Club and the ladies of the church.
