Flims, Flams, and Scams: Protect Yourself from Fraud

Each year people lose billions of dollars because of fraud. We hear about how unsuspecting persons have been the victims of scams and other types of fraud through phone calls, direct mail, email, or door-to-door salespersons. Learning the warning signs of fraud and how to protect yourself will help to insure that you do not become a victim.

“Flims, Flams, and Scams: Protect Yourself from Fraud” will be the topic of a program, sponsored by the Whiteside County Senior Center in cooperation with the University of Illinois Extension.

The program will be held May 20 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Whiteside County Senior Center, 1207 West Ninth Street, Sterling. Evelyn Prasse, University of Illinois Extension Educator, Consumer and Family Economics will discuss fraud warning signs, fraudulent practices to be aware of, and resources to help the consumer.

The program will be presented free of charge; however, pre-registration is required by May 18 by calling 815-625-7433.
