On Monday, April 18, 2005, the Morrison Sesquicentennial Committee received a huge finanical boost from the City of Morrison and Wells Fargo Bank. Larry Fransen, Morrison City council Alderman and Diane Boelkins, Manager of the Wells Fargo Morrison Bank, represented their two institutions in a ceremony held at the new Sesquicentennial Store in downtown Morrison. Morrison has not seen fireworks since 1955 and one of the goals for the July 8,9 & 10 celebration was to have a large and colorful fireworks display. Residents and participants will not be disappointed due to the generous donations from the City of Morrison and Wells Fargo Bank. On behalf of Gary Hayenga, President of Wells Fargo Bank Morrison, Diane Boelkins stated the $5,000.00 check being presented to the committee "quite simply our way of saying we want to make sure we have fireworks for Morrison". Larry Fransen with the City of Morrison check in the amount of $5,000.00 stated "it is important for the city to participate in this once in a lifetime event". Attending the ceremony were Stephanie Vavra, Co-chairman, Betty Stralow, parade chairman and Sesquicentennial Store manager and Bob Vaughn, Co-chairman.
