Envirothon Team Places 7th at Districts |
|
On April 12th the envirothon team from Morrison High School took 7th place at the district meet in Freeport. There were 36 teams involved in the district meet. The envirothon is an event where the students take tests on five environmental issues. The topics this year were soils, wildlife, forestry, aquatics, and cultural landscape management. After the tests the group gives a 10 minute presentation on a topic determined by the envirothon organizers. After the presentation there is a 5 minute question and answer session with the evaluators. The team must be able to support the views and issues they gave during the presentation. Each test and the presentation are worth 100 points with a perfect score being 600. The Morrison team earned 480 points and received a perfect score on their oral presentation. Team members include Cory Anderson, Greg Hanson, Brian Oostenryk, Daniel Deter, and Alene Vandermyde. by Editor, theCity1.com |
