Police Report 02-14-05

On 02-08-05, at approximately 12:09 p.m., Morrison Police responded to a report, by Morrison High School staff, that two juveniles were consuming and in possession of an alcoholic beverage at the High School. Police subsequently charged two 15-year-old juveniles with illegal possession and consumption of an alcoholic beverage. Both juveniles were subsequently released to the custody of a parent. The case has been referred to the Whiteside County State’s Attorney’s Office for adjudication.

On 02-09-05, at approximately 2:52 p.m., Morrison Police investigated a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Cherry Street and East Lincolnway. A pick-up driven by Joseph P. Dobbins, 18, Morrison, was eastbound through the intersection, when the Dobbins truck struck a southbound sport utility vehicle driven by Arlene M. Alvarado, 49, Morrison. The impact then drove the Alvarado vehicle into the path of a northbound car driven by Steven R. Bush, 59, Morrison. All drivers’ declined medical treatment. The total damage to all vehicles exceeded $500. Dobbins was cited for disobeying a traffic control device. Dobbins is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Morrison Police Department has received the Crime Rate Comparison Report from the Illinois State Police, Uniform Crime Reporting Section. According to the Report, the City of Morrison experienced a reduction in the rate of crime (per 100,000 population) of 55.1% from the calendar years 2003 to 2004. While the Police Department is encouraged by this report, we would ask the community to continue its excellent efforts in reporting suspicious activity to the Police Department.
