Grazing Tools and Techniques Focus of Workshops |

“Making Pastures Work for You-Tools and Techniques” is the title of a workshop set for March 7 in Princeton and repeated March 9 in Mt. Carroll. The daylong workshop will focus on some of the new ‘tools and techniques’ to help graziers improve the quality, yield, and carrying capacity of pastures. It is designed to help producers sharpen their pasture and grazing management skills. Some topics include Illini Graze-What it is and How it Can Help, Pasture Diversity-Is More Better?, and Making Cents out of Records. In addition, What’s New in Grass?, Got Weeds?-Got Problems?, and EQIP Contracts-Making them Work for You will be discussed. Two graziers will explain their operation and share grazing experiences. Other speakers include Dr. Mike Casler, forage breeder, US Dairy Forage Research Center, Madison, Wisconsin, and University of Illinois Extension educators, plus a Natural Resources Conservation Service agronomist. Registration begins at 9:00 am, and the program is from 9:30 am to 3 pm. A $20.00 registration fee per person for handout material and lunch is due March 1 for the workshop in Princeton and March 2 for the Mt. Carroll workshop. There will be a $25.00 per person charge for walk-in registration the day of the program.
