Crop Insurance Decisions in 2005

This workshop takes place in two sessions and both sessions will be held at the Whiteside County Extension Office in Morrison. The morning session from 10 a.m. to noon is free and will provide information useful in choosing between alternative crop insurance products. Participants that attend the afternoon session from noon to 3 p.m. will be using a microcomputer lab that will demonstrate the FAST Risk Model for making crop insurance and marketing choices. This model shows how crop insurance products and marketing strategies would have performed historically. Users can modify input to reflect their own farm situation.

In order to facilitate the computerized training, the afternoon session is limited to 25 participants. All participants in the afternoon session will receive a Fast CD, workshop notes, and a subscription to Fast. Fast are a series of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets that help farmers evaluate various aspects of a farm business.

The cost of this workshop is $45.00 per person. If you are attending one of the Farm Financial Management Using Fast workshops, a discount rate of $25.00 will apply. You must be signed up for one of the Farm Financial Management Using Fast workshops to receive this discount. Pre-registration is required by February 8 due to limited seating. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this program or if you need more information and a brochure, contact the Whiteside County Extension Office at (815) 772-4075.
