8 score in Fresh Fillies loss |
| Morrison hosted the boys’ and girls’ Rock Falls freshmen teams last Thursday. The girls’ game was the first to take place. The first half was the only one that didn’t look so good for the Fillies. They gave up 23 total points, 14 of them in the second quarter. Morrison put in 10 points total, just 2 of them in the first quarter.
The second half of the game was much better. The Fillies scored eight points in the third, while allowing Rock Falls nine. The fourth was close the same story. Rock Falls outscored Morrison again by one point: 8-7. Though the Fillies lost 25-40, they finally got more consistent game from their players. Normally the scoring by quarters goes up and down, but this time, it stayed constant, with the first quarter as the exception. In the second and third, they scored 8 points. In the fourth, it dropped just one point to seven. Equally exciting for the team was having eight people score in the game. Half of these had two points. Three others put in four, and Jessica Scott led the team with five points. Jess knocked in three of her six free throw attempts, and added another from the field. Ashlie Patten, Tristan Vander Leest and Lindsey Smith each made two baskets to give them four points apiece. Lindsey also attempted two free throws, but couldn’t get any of them to fall. Liz Urban, Trisha Beswick, Brianne Jensen and Megan Nelson had one shot fall apiece, earning each two points in the game. The Fillies teamed together to put in 11 field goals. They were three for eight from the free throw stripe. This totaled together to give Morrison 25 total points. Rock Falls put in 40 points. The fouls, at end’s total, were perfectly even at 15 all. In the first half, however, Rock Falls only had four fouls, compared to Morrison’s eight. Morrison’s field goal percentage was high for a freshmen team. They shot exactly 50%, nailing 11 of their 22 shot attempts. by anonymous |
