The Morrison Varsity Fillies win 10-0

The Morrison Varsity Fillies win at Lanark against Forreston in their first regional game. Monica Wright pitched a no hitter striking out thirteen and only walking one. The Fillies generated eight hits and had no errors in the win.

Morrison had their first scoring opportunity when Michaele Vock had a hit to left. Brittany Smith reached third when she hit to deep center and the ball went off the glove of the center fielder scoring Vock. Smith scored on a passed ball for the second run of the inning.

The third inning was almost a bat around. Wright reached on second on an error, she scored when Breanna Milnes hit up the middle. Kelsey Dykema had a single and Tricia Deter reached on an error. With bases loaded Jodi Medendorp had a line drive right to the left fielder. With two outs Vock had her second hit of the night scoring Milnes and Dykema. With Deter on third and Vock on first Forreston thought they could pick off Vock on the steel, but a bad throw scored Deter and Vock made it to third.

Wright had a triple in the fourth only to be left standing. Dykema led off the fifth with a double to center. She scored when Deter hit to left, Katie Tenboer went in to pinch run for Deter. Medendorp reached on an error. Vock laid down the perfect bunt. With bases loaded Smith hit into a fielder’s choice that put Tenboer out at home. Katie Kuehl came in to bat for Amanda Wiersema and had a shot to short that bounced off the glove and rolled to left scoring Medendorp and Vock. Needing one more run to end the game Abby Vock put down a SAC bunt the scored Smith to end the game.
