Mustangs Fall to the Storm |
| On Tuesday, May 4th, the Mostangs played host to the Bureau Valley Storm for another conference game. Morrison started out playing very well, and hitting the ball superbly. Tom Drosopoulos led the scoring in the bottom of the first off of a base hit. Following him was Nate Vock and Ryan Schisler, both coming in to give Morrison 3 before the end of the first inning, putting the game at a tie. Three runs had earlier been scored on Bureau Valley’s side, coming from Gustafson, Hansen, and Marquis.
In the second inning, Nate Vock held the Storm scoreless with great pitching. In the bottom of the inning, Keelan Hester was able to put the score at 4-3, scoring on excellent base running. The third inning was held tight by both teams, with neither scoring and only one base runner from Morrison. In the fourth inning, Ackerman of Bureau Valley scored a run in the top, but Morrison was quick to respond. Tom Drosopoulos was walked, and was advanced and scored by hits from Greg Frickenstein and a fly out by Nate Vock. The game was at 5-4 going into the 5th inning. In the 5th inning, Davis from Bureau Valley scored, tying the game at 5, but Morrison would again counter to keep their lead. The run came from Ryan Schisler who had a base hit from an infielders choice. Matt hook had a fly out, but Matt Kistler hit a shallow ball over the second baseman’s head. Advancing Schisler to third and giving Kistler a single. Morrison wasn’t able to produce any more runs that inning, buy they had numerous baserunners. In the 6th inning, with Morrison up by one, Bureau Valley turned on the bats, getting numerous hits, and giving Hansen, Hasbrook, and Davis all runs, giving the Storm a 2 run lead at 8-6. Morrison had many chances in the bottom of the inning, but wasn’t able to produce. In the seventh inning, Kendal McDearmon held the storm with his pitching, but in the bottom of the inning, Morrison again was unproductive batting. The final score was 8-6, with the Storm winning. The Mustangs are in action next on Friday, May 7th when they will travel to Riverdale. by larryg |
