Fresh/Soph Fillies down the Panthers |
| On April 28 the Morrison Fresh/Soph Fillies welcomed the Erie/Prophetstown/Tampico Panthers to their home field. Jen Bush pitched and Abby Vock caught.
The Panthers started the first inning by scoring 3 runs but the Fillies ended it with a heads up triple play. The Fillies answered back in the bottom of the first with 4 of their own runs, started by a leadoff double by Vock. Vock stole second and then home during Jen Bush’s at bat. Jen singled and stole second and was hit in by a solid double by Tenboer. Andrea Vegter singled in Tenboer, and was walked in on a series of walks. The Fillies defense came around and held the Panthers scoreless in the top of the second. The bottom of the second brought Vock back to the plate to lead off with another double, she stole third and home again. Heather Andersen was walked, Jen Bush singled, Vegter singled in Andersen, Bush scored on a past ball. Alene Vandermyde singled in Vegter. This made the score 8-3. The top of the third was a three up three down for the Panthers. This brought the Fillies to the plate. Vock led off with a single, Andersen was hit by a pitch. Jen Bush singled in Vock and Andersen. Making the score 10-3 The Panthers managed a run in the top of the fourth but the Fillies had their own answer. Vandermyde was issued a walk and stole second. Beka Head beat out an infield single, Vock singled in Vandermyde, Andersen sacrificed in Head. Score now 12-4. The top of the fifth brought in a run for the Panthers and the Fillies were held scoreless for the inning. The stingy Filly defense held strong in the top of the sixth. The Fillies offense continued to damage the score when Andersen singled, Jen Bush singled, Abby Wiesel walked, and Lyndsey McDonnell knocked in Andersen and Bush. The Fillies gave up one more run in the top of the seventh to make the final score 14-6. The game ended with a well caught line drive by Jen Bush. The Fillies once again had a strong defense.
