Mustang Baseball Downs the Rams

On Monday, April 26, the Mustang Baseball Team hosted the Riverdale Rams for a conference matchup. The Mustangs started out a little shaky, giving Vermeulen and Webb from Riverdale runs due to Mustang errors. The Mustangs soon fought back, led by Ryan Schisler on the mound.

The second inning was uneventful for both teams, but in the top of the third Schisler allowed no hits for the Rams. In the bottom of the inning, Morrison started to hit the ball. Tom Drosopoulos was the lead off hitter, scoring a base hit. Soon after, Nate Vock and Ryan Schisler were walked, loading the bases. A sacrifice fly ball by Matt Hook brought Ryan Schisler home. Hits by Matt Ward and Greg Frickenstein brought all runners home. In the top of the fourth inning, Ryan Schisler went 3 up and three down, putting Morrison back at bat, but no runs were scored.

With the score at 3-2 in Morrison’s favor, Farrel from Riverdale was the only score from the Rams in the inning. Morrison came back up to bat, and Matt Hook led off, hitting a long shot into left field, putting him on second base. Greg Frickenstein was soon to follow, being advanced to third by a hit from Marcus Hill, bringing Hook home. Keelan Hester and Dan Brewer bunted to advance base runners, while Dan brewer had 2 RBIs, bringing Hester and Drosopoulos home. Morrison put up a total of 4 runs that inning, putting the score at 7-3.

At the top of the 6th, Ryan Schisler again went 3 up and 3 down, giving Morrison another opportunity to score. Schisler led the hitting, being advanced with a sacrifice from Hook, and being advanced to third by Matt Ward. Schisler soon stole home before Greg Frickenstein and Kendal McDearmon both struck out to end the inning with a score of 8-3.

In the top of the final inning, Decap and Gosa from Riverdale both scored, bringing the score to within 3 points. Morrison stopped the scoring drive, and ended the game with a score of 8-5.
