Fresh/Soph Fillies down the Rams

On April 26 the Fresh/Soph Fillies met the Rams of Riverdale on their home field. Jen Bush pitched and Abby Vock caught. Morrison batted first. Vock led off with a double, Heather Andersen singled in Vock, and Kate Tenboer sacrificed singled in Andersen.

In the top of the second Callie Bush and Beka Head singled, Vock doubled in both Bush and Head to up the Fillies score to 4-0. In the top of the third Tenboer singled and scored when Andrea Vegter hit an infield single. Riverdale scored a run in the bottom of the fourth to bring the score to 5-1.

In the top of the fifth, the fillies put on their hitting shoes. Tenboer started with a walk. Vegter singled, Alene Vandermyde singled, and Callie Bush reached on a fielder’s choice and scored Tenboer. Head singled to score Vandermyde, Lindsey McDonell singled in Head and Callie Bush stole home. Vock knocked in McDonell and later stole home to make the score 11-1. The fillies held the Rams in the bottom of the 5th to have the 10 run rule take effect.

The Fillies put up a tremendous defensive effort. Jen Bush struck out one and the rest of the outs were made on good fielding efforts by the team.
