Fresh/Soph Fillies host tournament

On Saturday, April 24th the Fillies hosted a Fresh-Soph Tournament. Teams that participated were Milledgeville-Polo, E.P.T.L., Thomson-Mt.Carroll-Savanna, and Morrison.

Morrison started the tournament at 9:00 am with a game against Milledgeville-Polo. In Milledgeville’s first at bat, with Katie Tenboer on the mound and Alene Vandermyde behind the plate, Milledgeville had a double and a single which scored a run. In the Fillies first at bat, Abby Vock led off with a single and then stole second she later scored on a bad throw. The Fillies ended the first inning tying the score 1-1.

In the second inning, both teams went down scoreless. In the third inning, Milledgeville scored another run making the score 2-1 in their favor. In the Fillies third, Callie Bush walked, Abby Vock doubled to score Bush. Heather Andersen singled to score Vock. Jen Bush walked, Katie Tenboer singled to score Andersen. Andrea Vegter walked to load the bases. Alene Vandermyde hit a single to score Bush. The Fillies added 4 runs to their total making the score 5-2.
Milledgeville did not score in their half of the fourth inning. In the Fillies fourth, Vock started the Fillies off with a single. Andersen then hit another single moving Vock to third. Jen Bush singled to score Vock. Andersen later scored on a passed ball. The Fillies got another 2 runs to make the score 7-2 in their favor.

In the fifth inning, neither team scored. Milledgeville could not score in the sixth inning either. The Fillies added another run when Vock doubled, then stole second, moved to third on a fly ball by Andersen and scored on a fielder’s choice. Milledgeville could not score in the seventh making the final score Fillies 8 Milledgeville 2.

Katie Tenboer had 10 strike outs, allowed 5 hits and 5 walks. Abby Vock had 2 doubles and 2 singles, Heather Andersen had 2 singles, Alene Vandermyde, Katie Tenboer, Jen Bush, and Andrea Vegter all had 1 single.

The Fillies would move to the Championship game where they would play Thomson-Mt. Carroll –Savanna. Milledgeville will play E.P.T.L for third and fourth place.
