The Morrison Varsity Fillies win 1-0 |
The Morrison Varsity Fillies win at home against Riverdale bringing their conference record to 8-0 and 15-3 overall. Monica Wright pitched a complete game giving up only two hits and striking out sixteen. Wright took care of the first three batters with Ks. Breanna Milnes had the first hit for the Fillies. Kelsey Dykema followed with a hit only to be left on base. Jodi Medendorp took out the first batter for Riverdale on a pop foul behind the plate. The next batter went down swinging. Riverdale’s catcher had the first hit only to be left on first when Wright struck out the next batter. Medendorp reached in the second with an error at second, Katie Kuehl was hit by a pitch, but the Fillies bats were unable to bring them in. The third, fourth, and fifth were the same for both teams, three up, three down. In the sixth Riverdale had a chance with a line drive to right only to be denied by Leanne Smith. Breanna Milnes took charge and hit a grounder between short and third. Kelsey Dykema came up with a double to left. Riverdale’ third baseman made a nice catch in foul territory getting Tricia Deter. Jodi Medendorp put down the SAC bunt for the score and was safe at first on an error. That was all the Fillies would get in the inning. Wright knowing what needed to be done, struck out the first batter, but Medendorp dropped the third strike only to put out the batter. Michaele Vock knocked down the grounder up the middle holding Johnsen to a single. Mitchell grounded to Michaele Vock for her first double play of the season ending the game. Breanna Milnes scored once and had two hits. Kelsey Dykema had two hits, one of them was a double. Leanne Smith had a SAC and a hit. Brittany Smith had one hit.
