Mustang Baseball loses 14-4 to Panthers

On April 7, the Mustang Baseball Team hosted the Erie-Prophetstown Panthers for a conference game. Nate Vock Started the Pitching for Morrison, while Jonah Gage was on the mound for E.P. In the first inning, E.P. scored 2 runs quickly due to errors from Morrison.

Alex Bond scored another run early in the second, along with John Hayes behind him. At the bottom of the inning, Morrison went 3 up and 3 down. In the Third inning, Pat Young from E.P was the only one to score, putting the score at 5-0. In the bottom of the third, Kendal McDearmon led the base running, getting a walk. After him was Tom Drosopoulos, hitting a single to put him on base. Nate Vock followed suit, putting out another single and loading the bases. Hill and Brewer both got walked, scoring Kendal and Tom. To end the inning, Matt Kistler hit a fly out, but not before the mustangs had brought the score to 5-3. In the top of the fourth, E/P had a flurry of scoring, topped off by a home run from Mike Robinson, putting the score at 12-3. In the bottom of the fourth, Morrison wasn’t able to score any to decrease their 9-point deficit.

At the top of the 5th, Andrew Toppert scored another for E/P, giving them a 10 run lead, forcing Morrison to score in the bottom or the game would be over. Ryan Schisler was first up and hit the left field fence, giving him 3 bases. A line drive by Brewer sent him home, but that would be the end of the scoring for Morrison. At the top of the 6th, Jonah Gage scored on a walk and balk, but Kendal McDearmon would strike out the rest. In the bottom of the inning, the Mustangs weren’t able to score any, ending the game due to the 10 run rule.
