The Morrison Varsity Fillies win 1-0 |
| The Morrison Varsity Fillies shut out Erie-Prophetstown (EP) for their third conference win. Monica Wright only gave up one hit, striking out seventeen on the way to the Fillies win, and Jodi Medendorp was behind the plate. Chelsea Jaquet was pitching for EP with Wendy Wigant catching. Monica threw only ten pitches to strike out the first EP batters. Kelsey Dykema reached on an error to led off for Morrison. Wright grounded between short and third for a hit. Brianna Milnes had a grounder to the pitcher and reached first when Jaquet held Dykema at third. The next three batters for Morrison struck out leaving bases loaded. Wright tried the same thing in the second but gave up the hit to Morgan. Morrison had two groundouts and a K to end the inning. The third was the same for both teams, three up, three down. Wright struck out the two, three, four batter in the fourth. In the bottom of the fourth Jodi Medendorp reached second on an error to right when the ball rolled to the fence, only to be left standing. The fifth brought two groundouts and a K for EP. The bottom brought three groundouts for Morrison. Wright struck out one in the sixth, had one popup to first and a long fly ball that was caught by Leanne Smith. Wright led off the sixth with a walk. Milnes struck out. Michaele Vock took a walk. Deter had a hard hit off of Jaquet’ glove that was fielded by the shortstop for the out at first. Jaquet tried to work the outside corner on Medendorp only to have her walk. With Katie Kuehl up, Jaquet had a passed ball that scored Wright for an unearned run. Kuehl took the third out.
