The Morrison Varsity Fillies take two from Dixon |
| By: Gene Medendorp On Saturday afternoon Dixon came to town for a double header only to get shut out both games. The first game had Kelsey Dykema pitching for the Fillies and Jodi Medendorp behind the plate. The second game was the Wright- Milnes combination with Medendorp catching four and Katie Kuehl finishing. Dykema took out the first three batters with eleven pitches. Dykema led off for the Fillies with a K. Wright singled, Milnes struck out, and Michaele Vock reached on a dropped third strike. Tricia Deter had a two RBI single up the middle that scored Wright and Vock. Dixon started the second with a K; the next batter walked only to be picked off at second, and ended with a K. Katie Kuehl had the only hit for Morrison with a towering double to left. In the third Dixon recorded three more K’s and one walk. Wright started the Fillies by taking extra bases on an error to right. Milnes had a hit to the pitcher but made it safely because Wright, on third, froze the play. Milnes stole second while Vock struck out. Deter had two more RBIs on an errant throw from the catcher that went to right field. Medendorp grounded out, Brittany Smith struck out. Dykema took care of the batters in the fourth, fifth, and sixth with the help of Medendorp picking off the one that walked. Kuehl crushed another ball to left that went off the glove of the fielder for an error. She scored on the SAC bunt by Dykema. In the seventh Dixon’ catcher Hoyle did have a double to center only to be left standing. Dykema had her first complete game shut out for the season, striking out fourteen, walking two, and gave up two hits. She also had one RBI. Wright, Milnes, Deter, Kuehl, and Hanson all had one hit. Milnes took over in the fifth striking out two and the last batter grounded out. The Fillies started this game scoring Wright and Milnes in the first. The third scored Wright. The fourth was a bat around for the Fillies scoring seven. Milnes had three hits and three RBIs. Deter had three hits. Medendorp had two hits, a double, and two RBIs. Wright had two hits and one RBI.
