The Morrison Varsity Fillies win 7-0

The Morrison Varsity Fillies shut out Fulton for their first conference win. Monica Wright threw a no hitter, striking out fifteen improving the Fillies record to 4-1. Wright started the game with a walk to Fulton’ Abby Young who was out in a heads up double play when Amanda Boonstra popped up a bunt attempt to Kelsey Dykema, she threw to Amanda Wiersema who came in to cover second.

Kelsey Dykema led off the first with a hit to left. Wright took the walk. Brianna Milnes reached on a SAC bunt that was mishandled at third. Michaele Vock took the walk that pushed in the Fillies first run. Both teams went three up, three down in the second. Wright walked the first batter in the third, and then struck out the side. In the bottom of the third Milnes reached on an error but was out on a fielders choice ground ball that Deter hit to second.

Fulton grounded out twice and had a stike out for the fourth. Morrison did the same. Wright walked Pessman to start the fifth, Stuart advanced the runner on the SAC bunt then Monica struck out the next two batters with six pitches. The bottom of the fifth Morrison had a runner on third that left a little early on a fly out to center for Fulton’s double play to end the inning.

In the sixth Wright recorded two more K’s and fielded a grounder from Wilkin for the third out. The Fillies bats lit up when Michaele Vock led off with a nice bunt. Tricia Deter hit up the middle. Brittany Smith had a SAC bunt to move the runners. Katie Kuehl also had a SAC bunt for a RBI that scored Vock. Jodi Medendorp made it to third on a hit to right that scored Deter. Cassie Hanson drew the walk and moved to second on a hit by Dykema. Wright helped herself by hitting a two RBI triple. Milnes scored Wright on an error at third. Vock ended the inning with a grounder back to the pitcher, Amanda Boonstra. Wright struck out the first two in the top of the seventh then walked Pessman, then struck out Stuart for the game.

Dykema scored twice, three hits, and one RBI. Wright scored once, a triple, two RBIs, and a SAC. Milnes had a RBI. Vock scored once, one hit, and a RBI. Deter scored once and had two hits. Smith had a SAC. Kuehl had one RBI and one SAC. Medendorp scored once, one RBI, and a triple. Hanson scored once.
