Mustangs Suffer Huge Loss to Steamers

On Saturday, February 21, the Mustang Basketball teams traveled to Fulton for their final regular season game. The Steamers came out quickly, scoring 2 points in the first 15 seconds of play, a pace that would continue throughout the game.

Casey Tiesman was the first to score for Morrison, dropping a 3 pointer to try to set a pace for Morrison. Fulton continued to dominate both sides of the ball, and left the score at 21-15 at the beginning of the first quarter. Morrison continued to struggle in the second quarter, letting the Steamers score 8 before they scored 2, halfway into the quarter. Morrison gave Fulton many fast breaks from turnovers, leaving the score at 44-21 at the half.

Morrison came out of the half poorly, fouling 5 times in the first minute of the third, but scored only 6 the entire third quarter. The score at the end of the third was 55-27, with the steamers in a very commanding position. In the fourth quarter, Morrison remov3ed all of their starters to give the others some experience. Later into the fourth quarter, Morrison’s Doug Vandermyde was the first to shoot a free-throw the entire game for the Mustangs, but other than that, Fulton continued to play tough against our second string, and left the final score at 65-39. Total scoring for the team was from Matt Vandermyde with 8, Casey Tiesman with 7, Nate Vock with 6, Brad sharp with 5, Tim Houzenga and Joe Mills with 4, Doug Vandermyde with 3, and Luke Goessman with 2.
