Mustangs Lose at Home to Newman |
| On Saturday, January 31, 2004, the Mustangs hosted the Newman Comets during their pack the place night. Newman came out strong, but A 3 pointer by Casey Tiesman brought the score to within 2 in the opening minutes of the game. Later in the first, Newman continued their run of scoring, putting the score at 18-10 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Newman again continued their crushing force, not letting the Mustangs put any more than 9 up in the second, while the Comets increased their score to 35. The score going into halftime was 35-19. In the third quarter, Morrison came out strong, pulling to within 10 of the Comets, but any plans of a comeback were thwarted by the end of the third, because they had only put up another 9 points and allowed Newman to increase their lead to 20. The score at the end of the third was 48-28, with Newman in a commanding position. In the fourth quarter, the Mustangs never gave up, scoring 11 points while allowing only 9. The Mustangs finished off the game well, but the final score stayed in Newman’s favor 57-39. Casey Tiesman and Luke Goessman led the team’s scoring with 12 apiece, followed by Joe Mills, Dan Brewer, and Tim Houzenga all with 3, and Nate Vock and Matt Vandermyde with 2. by larryg |
