Morrison Mustangs Will Not Have Revenge Against Riverdale

After losing to Riverdale earlier in the year at home by just 7 points, Morrison traveled to Port Byron on Friday, January 23, to seek revenge against the Rams, but with a lack of scoring on Morrison’s side of the ball, Morrison found themselves not having their revenge this year.

Riverdale came out strong, breaking out to a 9-2 lead, setting a strong pace for the rest of the game. Morrison recovered at the end of the quarter, bringing their score up to 7, but not being able to produce otherwise. The scoring came from Luke Goessman with 4, and Casey Tiesman with 3. In the second half Morrison lost all productivity, turning the ball over to the Rams many times. Throughout the second quarter, Morrison was able to come up with just 2 points, coming from Luke Goessman. Morrison went into the locker rooms with a score of 25-9.

In the second half, Morrison came out with a little more scoring, knowing that if they wanted to stay in the game, they had to pick up their pace. Morrison put 11 points on the board in the third, coming from Casey Tiesman with 5, Luke Goessman with 4, and Joe Mills with 2. The score at the end of the third quarter was 39-20, with Morrison having a lot of catch up to do in the fourth. They came out in the final quarter with a few quick scores, but Riverdale led a strong charge, stealing the ball many times and capitalizing on the opportunities that were presented. Morrison put another 12 points on the board, but it was not enough to match the 52 points that Riverdale had put up by the end of the game. Morrison’s 12 points came from Joe Mills with 5, Casey Tiesman with 3, Nate Vock with 2, while Matt and Doug Vandermyde each had 1 point. The final score was 52-32, which puts Morrison’s record at 1-15.
