Fillies Struggle Against Bureau Valley

The Morrison Fillies hosted the Bureau Valley Storm on Tuesday, January 20. Despite the rather small turnout, it was a very exciting game for all who attended. Morrsion had been at the top of thier game for the past few weeks, but they found great difficulty putting the ball in the basket for this game.

Morrison was the first to strike, but Bureau Valley quickly responded with some of their own scoring, tying the score at 3 early on. Morrison held close to the Storm throughout the first quarter, but a final run before the end of the quarter put Bureau Valley up by 6 with a score of 13-7. Morrison’s points came from Amanda Smith, Abby Vock, and Kelli Nelson all with 2, and Michaele Vock with 1.

In the second quarter, Morrison again led the charge, scoring a quick 4 points to come within 2 of B.V. The Storm again came with another round of scoring, pulling away by 5 at the end of the half with a score of 22-17. Michaele Vock led the scoring with 4 points, followed by Lindsey Morgan, Kelli nelson, and Leanne Smith all scoring 2.

In the third quarter, Bureau Valley took control of the ball, taking off to a 10 point lead, 30-20, with 4 minutes left in the third. By the end of the third quarter, Morrison had put 4 points on the board, but the Storm put up another 2, leaving the 3rd quarter score at 32-24, with B.V. in a controlling lead. Scoring in the third quarter came from Amanda Smith, Abby Vock, and Kelli Nelson all with 2, and Michaele Vock with another 1.

In the 4th quarter, Abby Vock came out with a 3 pointer to start off the final quarter. This was the first in a series of scoring on Morrison’s side of the ball, coming to within 2 with 6 minutes to go. B.V. again came out with a few scores, increasing the score to 41-34, but another 3 point shot by Abby Vock, plus a foul shot after led the way to another attempt by Morrison. The Fillies came to within 1 with 2 minutes left, but Bureau Valley took control, scoring another 6, while not letting Morrison score any. The final score was 50-43. Final scoring for Morrison was led by Abby Vock with an incredible 13, while Michaele Vock, Amber Heller, and Kelli Nelson all had 2.
