Morrison Mustangs fall to Prince of Peace |
| Playing second in the double header against Prince of Peace Morrison hoped for a win after seeing the girls lose by three in overtime, but the Mustangs had no such luck and faced an uphill battle the entire game. Playing against them were many much taller kids on the opposing team.
After The Irish came out to a commanding 14-1 lead in the first quarter, Morrison came out and started scoring before the first quarter came to an end. Casey Tiesman led the scoring with four, followed by Luke Goessman and Joe Mills with two, then Dan Brewer, Matt Vandermyde, and Tim Houzenga all scoring a free throw. The second quarter went much the same as the first, with Prince of Peace in a commanding lead throughout. The only scoring came from Dan Brewer, Nathan Vock, and Brad Sharp, all with two points apiece. In the second half of the game, Morrison faced many of the same problems that they did in the first half. In the third quarter, Morrison was only able to score six points, with four coming from Dan Brewer, and the other two coming from Luke Goessman, before he fouled out midway through the third. Later in the third quarter, Casey Tiesman was given a Technical for arguing with the referee, after many missed and unfair calls. In the fourth quarter, Morrison saw opportunities and started to play on them with much of their secondary in. Joe Mills led the scoring with seven, followed by Dan Brewer and Jon Kenseth with three apiece. Following them was Casey Tiesman, Matt Vandermyde, Tim Houzenga, and Doug Vandermyde, all with two points. In the end Morrison lost with a final score of 62-46. Dan Brewer led Morrison’s overall scoring with 10, followed by Joe Mills with 9. The Mustangs play next Tuesday, January 6, at Erie. Click Here For photos from the game. by larryg |
