Fulton Grand Excursion Events

Visit Historic Downtown Fulton for a unique shopping experience. Many stores will be open on Sunday, June 27, 2004 for all Grand Excursion enthusiasts to enjoy. Many shops carry antiques, crafts, artwork and Dutch items.

The Fulton Grand Excursion Events will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2004 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Visit Historic Downtown Fulton for a unique shopping experience. Many stores will be open on Sunday, for all Grand Excursion enthusiasts to enjoy.

Early American Crafters at Heritage Canyon – Heritage Canyon, an 1800’s working village, will come alive on Sunday, as period re-enactors recreate life as it was in the mid-1800’s. Visitors will step back in time and observe first person impersonators living in the 1850s. The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Suggested donation of $2.

Fulton’s River Front – Come celebrate Fulton’s river from with a viewing of locally-decorated, one-dimensional, four foot long catfish, herons, eagles and steamboats. Businesses, organizations and schools have decorated river subjects that are displayed throughout Den Besten Park (near the windmill) and the downtown area. The event occurs through the Fall Festival (October 9, 2004).

The Martin House Museum is a civil war era home donated to the city and maintained by the Fulton Historical Society. The museum houses several unique antique items and Fulton memorabilia. Enjoy light refreshments, first person impersonators, and tours of this historic home on Sunday, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. it is located at 707 10th Avenue.

Enjoy tours of the Authentic Dutch Windmill on Sunday, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The windmill was originally built in the Netherlands, disassembled and erected by Dutch Craftsmen. The windmill is located on Fulton’s riverfront and houses an extensive gift shop including authentic stone ground flour and Dutch items.

Dutch Dancing – view wooden shoe dancing in front of the windmill on Sunday. Performance times are 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Fulton Fiber Mill – Fulton’s newest mill will be offering educational tours on milling wool and animal fiber into yarn. The mill specializes in producing rovings and batts for the hand spinner and artisan as well as yarns made from exotic animal fibers. The mill houses a unique gift shop including fiber related products, antiques and crafts. The mill will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on June 27.

Community Grill-Out – The Fulton Meat Market will be open on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. serving their delicious grilled pork, beef, and poultry items. This is a rare occasion to enjoy their grilled food on a Sunday afternoon.

Freezer’s Ice Cream – will set up a stand and sell their delicious cool treats in downtown Fulton on the afternoon of the 27th.

Glory Bound String Band Concert Performance – 2-3:30 p.m. at Den Besten Park. The seven-member string band specializes in gospel and mountain music. Some of the instruments you will find in the band include: banjo, guitar, fiddle and a dulcimer.

Schmalling Public Library – stop by and take a look at the library’s newest exhibit, the Local History Room. This room features a small collection of books in Dutch, Whiteside County and Family Histories, High School Yearbooks and much more. The library, located at 501 10th Avenue from noon until 2 p.m.
