July 17 Participation requested for a Unique group photo !!! |
| The Morrison Sesquicentennial Committee, in a unique and one time event invites ALL PERSONS HAVING BEEN BORN, DOCTORED OR OTHERWISE HELPED BY DRS IKE AND RICHARD VANDERMYDE to participate in a one time photograph honoring these physicians for their long time support for the community of Morrison.
The Morrison Sesquicentennial Committee in cooperation with Morrison Community Hospital will set up a photo opportunity in the East Parking lot of the hospital on the morning of July 17, 2004 at 8:30 AM. Dr. Richard Vandermyde will be photographed along with a supporting cast of what we hope to be hundreds of his and his father's former patients in a single group setting with the hospital building in the background. The committee encourages former patients to sign a guest book which will be at the hospital photo site or bring along a written paragraph or two describing how one of these doctors affected their families lives in a positive manner. This family of doctors have provided their services to the Morrison community since 1947. A commemorative document acknowledging your participation and a free calendar of sesquicentennial year long events will be given out to each individual attending. The committee aniticipates that the photo shoot will be also attended by local media and can be expected to form at 8:30 AM with the actual photo taken at 9:00AM. On Saturday morning July 17 there will be no parking in the East parking lot but parking will be allowed in the North lot. Parking is allowed on Jackson Street and we recommend older persons be let out on the hospital property and cars parked on Jackson Street. These doctors dedicated their careers to tending to the medical needs of an entire community, Dr "Dick" practicing his entire life within Morrison. The Sesquicentennial Committee by this one time photograph hopes to display how that unselfish dedication has positively affected the lives of so many and continues to be appreciated.Any person so affected by these doctors are encouraged to attend this once in a life time opportunity to create an historical picture you will be proud to have been a part of. Meet Dr Dick, sign the guest book, bring a written story of support or come and just say "thankyou" after the photo. The actual setting of the photograph will simply to place Dr Vandermyde on the far East side of the East Parking lot with his former patients placed in behind him so as to demonstrate in a visual way the impact this family of doctors has had with the citizens of Morrison. The Sesquicentennial Committee recognizes this is a unique event and needs to be closely coordinated. If you can attend we would like some confirmation you are coming. If you cannot attend and would still like a free sesquicentennial calendar of events or you would like to send a personal story of how you or your family has been affected by Drs Dick or Ike Vandermyde you can mail, email or fax to these same addresses. Questions can be directed to either Bob Vaughn or Stephanie Vavra at their respective numbers on the left hand column. email to webmaster@thecity1.com to confirm attendance, fax to 815-772-5682, or call Morrison Online thecity1.com and leave a message of attendance 815-772-8718.
