Sesquicentennial Holiday Gifts Have Appeal |
| As the holiday spirit sneaks into your thoughts, make room for this gifting possibility: Morrison sesquicentennial-themed items. There are options for clothing, jewelry, and historical reading material, plus a unique stocking stuffer that will appeal to all ages.
Who couldn’t use a cozy, red sweatshirt? This new item has a small, white sesquicentennial logo on the front. The price is $18. Adult sizes are available at this time, small through extra large. Don’t forget the “snowbirds” that travel south for the winter. There are t-shirts in four colors (cream, red, white, navy), three prices, two logo designs (large and small), and several sizes. Adult t-shirts sell for $10; children’s medium or large shirts are $7; children’s extra small or small shirts run $5. Think what a terrific, family photo opportunity this would make! Sesquicentennial “bling-bling” is suitable for males or females and is available in two metal finishes. Use one to adorn a jacket, cap, sweater or purse. A collectible goldtone pin would be an impressive gift. Each is a limited edition and numbered; only 150 were issued as an event fundraiser. The cost is $100. The $5 silver pin will fit anyone’s Christmas stocking and budget. Wear them with pride and show your community support. For book lovers, there are two offerings. Donald S. Mulnix recently completed a history of Morrison churches titled 150 Years, Religious Societies of Morrison 1855 to 2005. The cost is $10 per copy. Mulnix will donate a portion of his book sales to the sesquicentennial committee. Family members who participated in the 1955 centennial celebration will enjoy a reprint of the program booklet that accompanied it. These sell for $5. The v-neck, t-shirt-shaped drink coozie is a great stocking stuffer. Made of gray fabric, it is printed with the sesquicentennial logo on one side and the slogan “Memories are Made in Morrison” on the reverse. Each costs $3.50, or you can pick up a pair for $6.00. These would also make charming Christmas tree ornaments or package tie-ons. You can do your sesquicentennial Christmas shopping conveniently at four sites along Main Street. Community State Bank, Fitzgerald Pharmacy, Gallery on Main, and the Morrison Sesquicentennial office at 230 E. Main carry the anniversary merchandise. by svavra |
