Santa and employees of Exelon Nuclear – Quad Cities Generating Station surprised Marsha Geerts, head of Morrison Community Preschool, with an early Christmas gift for the preschool. As part of Exelons Quad Cities Station United Way Drive employees held various fundraisers throughout the year and made their own personal contributions to be put toward the station’s annual United Way campaign. In addition to the company contribution that Exelon makes to the Morrison United Way campaign, the employees donated an additional $1,500, which was presented Wednesday morning to the preschool to be used for new tables and chairs in the classrooms. The preschool was also presented with reading books that were obtained from a book fair held Tuesday at the Quad Cities plant.
According to Bill Stoermer, Exelon’s Communication Manager, “Marsha’s husband, Steve is an employee at the Quad Cities Station which adds another dimension to our donation. We realize that the Morrison preschool is operated on limited funds and has recently had some unexpected costs related to an upgrade to their fire protection system. It became very important for us to be able to contribute funds to help them purchase new equipment.”
Santa and the employees also handed out candy canes and Exelon night-lights to the children.
