United Methodist Church annual holiday concert

The United Methodist Church presents its annual concert for the Advent and Christmas Season on Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 5:00 P.M. in the church sanctuary. Entitled “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, music for the concert will be both secular and sacred. The sanctuary choir, handbell choir, soloists, and ensembles are in rehearsal for this holiday event.

Led by choir director John Frame, the sanctuary choir will sing a variety of both old favorites and new, including “The First Nowell”, arranged by Mack Wilberg, “Away In a Manger” with a four hand piano accompaniment, John Rutter’s “Star Carol” and “Midnight Sleigh Bells” from themes of the Russian composer, Prokofieff. Both a men’s number, “Tomorrow Will Be My Dancing Day”, and a women’s rendition of “We Need a Little Christmas” from the musical, Mame will also be included in the program.

Incorporated into the evening’s concert will be favorite soloists: Connie Swanson DeSpain, Tonia Ernst, John Miller, Ed Pruis, and Dan Swinson, all remembered for their delightful performances of last year. Enriching the evening will be the handbell choir, under the direction of Connie Swanson DeSpain, an organ/piano duet, featuring Nancy Poling and John Frame, and an ensemble performing “What Sweeter Music” by John Rutter.

From the opening number of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” until the final notes, the concert promises to lift your heart and spirit in preparation for the season of Christmas.

There is no charge for the concert; however, a free will offering will be taken for the apportionment of mission and service.
