2004 Christmas Parade and Walk |

The Morrison Chamber of Commerce invites you and your family to a celebration of the holidays, “Memories are Made in Morrison,” parade and walk on Thursday, December 2, 2004, from 6-8:30 p.m. Eat supper at these following locations before venturing to Main Street for Our Hometown Christmas. The United Methodist Church, 200 West Lincolnway will be serving a baked potato and dessert bar. St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, 401 North Cherry will hold a soup supper. First Presbyterian Church, 100 East Lincolnway is serving vegetable soup and Brethren in Christ, 209 East Knox is serving chili and chips. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. at the corner of Madison and Main Streets and proceed down Main Street to the Post Office. Entries for the parade include: Morrison Police Department, Color Guard, Parade Banner, Sesquicentennial Kazoo Band, Santa House, Mayor Roger Drey, Mr. and Mrs. Morrison, Girl Scouts, Community State Bank Float, Sullivan’s, Leann’s Dance Connection, Cub Scouts, Morrison Community Hospital Ambulance, Morrison Community Federal Credit Union, Odell Library, Lindsay-Harkness, 1st Baptist Church, Relay for Life, Hidden Valley Trail Riders, Bush Construction, Presbyterian Church, TheCity1.com, Resthave, Effective Networking, Sauk Valley Newspaper, Winning Wheels, Golden Businesses, and Morrison Fire Department with Santa. Prize money will be awarded for Best of Show - $150; 1st Place - $100; 2nd Place - $75; 3rd Place - $50. Winners chosen according to theme will be posted on the window of Community State Bank. Downtown business window displays will also be judged. Categories for the window displays are: Live Display; Decorated Tree; and Christmas Scene. Businesses doing live displays are Brands Furniture, 104 East Main; Karen Bramm Insurance, 102 West Main; The Bookworm, 207 West Main; K & R Greenhouse (displayed at the Whiteside News Sentinel, 100 East Main; and Russell Holesinger Attorney, 105 East Main. Businesses entering the best decorated tree are: Briar Patch, 117 West Main; Community State Bank, 220 East Main; Fusion Fitness, 123 West Main; The Bookworm, 207 West Main; Vogel Barber Shop, 205 East Main; Main Street Beauty Show, 207 East Main; K & R Greenhouse (displayed at the Whiteside News Sentinel, 100 East Main); The Carpet House, 120 East Main; Fitzgerald’s Drug Store, 124 East Main; and Isle of Rhodes, 100 West Main. Christmas Scenes is the third category for the window displays. Businesses in this category are: Community State Bank, 220 East Main; The Bookworm, 207 West Main; Morrison Community Federal Credit Union, 204 East Main; SLM International, in the Old Maurits and Jost Building on Main Street; Edward Jones Investments, 116 E. Main; Main Street Beauty Shop, 207 E. Main; The Carpet House, 120 East Main; Fitzgerald’s Drug Store, 124 East Main; and Ken Kophamer Realty, 118 East Main. Visit with the hostesses for the Christmas Walk, Dick and Rachel Groharing at Community State Bank. The Morrison Kiwanis’ will serve refreshments. You can also visit with Mr. and Mrs. Morrison at Wells Fargo Bank. Other highlights of the evening include the ever-favorite Kettle Korn, will be sponsored by Sterling Federal Bank. Take a ride in a horse drawn wagon on Main Street, sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank. Santa and Mrs. Klaus will arrive in Morrison to take children’s requests at their cottage on Main Street. If you are in need of a warm-up or refreshment visit the Morrison Fire Department, Wells Fargo Bank or Community State Bank.
