New Gift Possibilities Available |
|
| Many people make a special point to shop in Morrison for holiday gifts. This year, it is easier than ever to support local businesses and organizations. In the stores, there is a noticeable increase in the variety of merchandise available. Several new businesses, which were not in place last Christmas, are eager to build a customer base. One shopping option to include is Morrison’s Heritage Museum, with 8 new items for sale. You can select a dozen note cards, featuring black & white drawings of Morrison homes and buildings. There are 2 sets available; they sell for $7 each. Seven items have an enamel photo of the Annon Mill and the words “Morrison, Illinois” as a design feature. Choose a tack pin, book mark, spoon, or bell in silvertone metal. The matching thimble is pewter. Shiny red, gold, or blue pill boxes and sewing kits complete the selection. They make perfect stocking stuffers, because the prices range from $2.50 to $6.50. The museum gift shop includes other items in a wide range of prices. You will find t-shirts, covered bridge birdhouses, wooden collectible buildings, magnets, postcards, our Smithsonian Institution-inspired cookbook, books of historic postcards, and The Families of Ronald Reagan by Dr. Curt Gronner. All the new items are available at Gallery on Main and Morrison’s Heritage Museum. Merchandise is also located at Community State Bank and Wells Fargo Bank. The museum will be open at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 2, for the Christmas Walk. Make the Historical Society a stop on this special evening. Warm your feet and fingers, listen to the Southside recorder ensemble from 7:30 to 7:45, and enjoy the festive decorations throughout the museum. by Stephanie A. Vavra, Guest Columnist |
