Odell Library Celebrates 125 years

Odell Public Library held its 125th birthday party and open house on Saturday, November 13, 2004

The unveiling of the mural designed and painted by Elisa and Sandy Rideout, Morrison was also held. The mural is entitled, “The Alphabet in Pictures.” Funding for the mural was through a grant from the Saemann Foundation.

Mae Domack also contributed one of her prints to be used as a raffle prize with proceeds being donated to the library. Terri Doering was the winner of the print.

Door prizes consisted of cookbooks, videos and books. Winners of these prizes were: Cookbooks – Rachel Barry, Marge Schleuning and Pat Zuidema; Videos – Michelle Linke and E. Schroeder; and Books were won by Phyllis Maxfield.

A birthday cake made by Nancy Colistro was on display signifying the 125th birthday of the library.

Connie Boonstra stated, I think we had a very good turnout for the party and the book sale went well.”

The library is open Monday and Wednesdays - 10 a.m. until 8:30 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursdays - 2-8:30 p.m.; Friday – 2-5:30 p.m.; and Saturday – 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
