The Veterans’ Day ceremony was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 11 at the corner of Genesee Street and Main Street. The fire whistle blew, followed by the VFW-American Legion Honor Guard presenting the traditional rifle salute."Taps" was played by Carolyn Aiken and Amy Myer to end the ceremony.

The ceremony is held at 11:00 o’clock for the reason that, that is when the Armistice was signed at the end of WW I at the 11th hour (Washington time), on the 11th day, of the 11th month. This holiday was originally known as Armistice Day, but was changed to Veterans’ Day in 1954.
