|
On 10-29-04, at approximately 10:58 a.m., Curtis DeFrang, Morrison, reported that the rear window on his car had been broken by a BB pellet. The damage is believed to have occurred some time the previous night. The incident occurred in the 400 Block of East Wall Street. On 10-31-04, at approximately 8:41 p.m., security personnel at General Electric reported that an unknown vehicle had backed into a building at 709 West Wall Street, and subsequently left the scene. The Morrison Police Department has received a report of a confidence scheme by a company called I.C.S. (Information Crime Services) of Griffith, Indiana. A purposed investigator from I.C.S. will call a potential victim, and advise them that I.C.S. has the victim’s social security number. The I.C.S. investigator will then pressure the victim to send money to keep the victim’s social security number from being published. The Police Department has received one report of a resident being contacted by I.C.S. As in past confidence schemes, the Police Department advises that if anyone is contacted by these individuals, do not send money, or provide personal or financial information to them. An investigation of I.C.S. by the Police Department has revealed that any mail sent to the Griffith, Indiana address is forwarded to a Chicago address. The Chicago Police Department, Illinois Attorney General’s Office, and the United States Postal Inspection Service are currently conducting a joint investigation into the activities of I.C.S. by Editor, theCity1.com |
