Overeaters Anonymous Information Night |
|
Is your life a constant struggle with food, shape and weight? There is a way out: (OA) Overeaters Anonymous. OA can help. OA is a fellowship of people, who share the common problem of compulsive overeating, as well as other eating disorders. A special Public Meeting Night is being planned for November 9, from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. at the Morrison United Methodist Church. For more information call 815-778-1309. This meeting is also open to those with any eating disorders, including their family and friends. OA was founded in 1960 and has no dues or fees. One becomes a member simply by having the desire to stop eating compulsively. This is not a diet club. OA is not affiliated with any public or private organization, political movement, ideology or religious doctrine. Come see if OA is for you. OA is a Fellowship founded in 1960 and patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous, except that it deals with eating rather than drinking. Like AA, OA’s most valued tradition is personal anonymity at the public level. This means that the Fellowship itself is not anonymous, but it members are. The first Overeaters Anonymous meeting was held in Los Angeles, California, on January 19, 1960, with three members in attendance. Today, OA is a worldwide Fellowship with members in nearly 7,000 groups in about 52 countries with new meetings continuing to be established worldwide. There is a World Service Office which answers inquiries, publishes literature and provides other services to OA groups and individuals worldwide. The World Service Office is located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. by Editor, theCity1.com |
