Morrison Chamber Glo Ball Tournament a Success!

The Morrison Chamber of Commerce Annual Glo Ball Golf Tournament was a huge success and enjoyed by all who attended. Saturday evening September 25, 14 golf teams came prepared to do battle at the Cross Creek Country Club with hostess Dixie Vegter. Dixie served a wonderful meal and had the entire course lined with candle lit luminaries although some teams needed more than lights to find their way around the course. There is a rumor the team of Ron Coplan, Mark Schuler, Mike Olson and Phil Benson is still lost at the 7th hole. Some confusion exists as their wives have not reported them missing. State Farm Insurance with newcomer to Morrison Leslie May promoted the $5,000.00 Hole in One prize and Pete Harkness challenged that his 7 shots on the 2nd hole all added up to One good effort to no avail. The evening was played in total darkness which was an advantage to several teams including the Community State Bank team led by Kevin and Jill Schisler. Some univited guests late in the evening caused interesting conversation with a skunk guarding the golf cart bridge at times delaying play and the deer on the 6th hole bleeting like a sheep. Kevin Belsey thought it was his wife calling and he played the entire game at the 6th hole. Most players stayed away from Morrison Golf Team member Larry Gatz who had a propensity to start the luminary bags on fire simply by walking by them. The evening ended with a survivor team winning by two strokes over the Joe Robbins led team, the team of Kevin and Dawn Schlueter, Sean and Robin Hicks who won the grand prize and bragging rights for the next year. The Morrison Chamber of Commerce sincerely thanks Dixie and her Cross Country crew for a job well done and all of the hole sponsors: TheCity1.com, Community State Bank, Metro Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, Whiteside News Sentinel, Lindsay Harkness Chevy, Tegeler's Furniture, Schuler Motors, Sterling Federal Bank, B-K Appraisal, Advantage One Credit Union, Super Wash and Car Quest. Several businesses unselfishly donated many doorprizes which were won by those attending. We thank Nelson, Kilgus, Richey & Huffman, Ron Coplan, Weinstein, Shirk & Buckwalter-Schurman,Casa Gomez, Curves, Fitzgerald Pharmacy, Fusion Fitness, Happy Joe's, Karen Bramm Insurance, Kay Brandau Designs, Morrison Community Federal Credit Union, Morrison Community Hospital, Shawver Press, Spahn & Rose, Sullivan's Bakery and Morrison True Value. We also express our thanks to Andrea Wakeman for the great decoration on the cake with our chamber logo! Everyone had a great time and we are all looking forward to next year's Glo Ball Golf Tournament.
