UMC to hold series on World Religion

The United Methodist Church of Morrison will begin its October series of World Religions on Tuesday, October 5, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. Because the world is a global community and all peoples our neighbors, this series is designed to introduce four major religions: Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism, and Islam. What does man believe and why? This series will focus on not only the diversity of the world’s people and their religious beliefs, but also essential questions that will facilitate an awareness, understanding and respect of others.

The session on Buddhism will be presented by Young Min Peik, who is pastor of a Korean Methodist Church and a Doctoral Candidate in Asian Theology at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. The series will continue with Hinduism the world religion for study on Tuesday, October 12th, followed by Confucianism on October 19th, and concluding with Islam on October 26th.

All members of the community are welcomed and encouraged to attend this enlightening sequence on these major religions of the world.
