Morrison woman involved in 3-vehicle accident |

Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a three-vehicle accident reported early Tuesday morning, August 3, 2004 at West LeFevre Road and West Lynn Blvd., in Sterling. According to the department a vehicle driven by Monika Knapp, 53, Morrison was stopped in the eastbound lane waiting to turn into a private drive when it was struck from behind by a second unit, also traveling eastbound, driven by Bridget Schott, 19, Sterling. The Schott vehicle then entered the westbound lane and was struck by a westbound unit driven by Bridgett Wasson, 39, Sterling. The Schott vehicle left the roadway coming to rest in the north ditch. All subjects involved were transported to Community General Medical Center for treatment. A passenger in the Schott vehicle Brandon R. Reed, 14, Sterling was airlifted to Rockford for treatment. According to Winnebago County Coroner’s office Reed was pronounced dead at 12:19 p.m. August 3 due to massive head injuries. Whiteside County deputies were assisted at the scene by CGH ambulance, Sterling Fire and Police departments.
