Troop 96 Adventure Trip

Scouts attending the High Adventure trip

Scouts who attended Summer Camp

Members of Troop 96 left Morrison on June 16 traveling to Alexandria, MN to camp overnight. The next day they traveled to Washburn, ND. While there they visited Lewis and Clark’s Interpretive Center

Sunday they traveled through the Bad Lands of North Dakota to Wolf Point, MT where they camped overnight.

The next morning they traveled to Judith Landing where they put in their canoes to travel the Lewis and Clark Trail on Missouri River. This is called the Missouri Breaks. The trail took the troop along many unusual sites. Some of which were sage bush, big horn sheep and the unique results of erosion on shale and sandstone. Still remote and in many respects desolate, this reach of river can be unforgiving to the ill prepared or careless.

The troop then continued to Chief Crazy Horse monument and from there to Mt. Rushmore, stopping at Wall Drug and camped in Chamberlain, ND. They returned to Morrison on July 3.

Those participating were: Scouts – Lucas Akker, Luke Barry, Mitchell Boles, Eli Gravert, Tim Hood, Jonathan Nelson, Chris Nye; Adults – Steve Gatz, Laura Gatz, Arlyn Hayen and Curtis Stuart.

The scouts also attended Summer Camp at Camp Lowden in Oregon, IL from July 4-10th. Those attending were: Ethan Smit, Mitchell Boles, August Ufkin, Chris Nye, Luke Barry, Steven Karvelius, Tim Hood, Ben Gouley, Tim Noe, Mitchell Hood, Austin Muntean, Kyle Patten, Collin Wolf. Leaders attending were Jeff Bramm, Steve Gatz, Ed Karvelius and Jim Bramm.
