Police Reports 08-02

On 07-29-04, a approximately 9:00 a.m., Morrison Police charged Donald R. Prestley, 51, Morrison, with driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Prestley was charged after police completed an investigation into an accident that occurred on 07-11-04, at approximately 1:47 a.m. at the intersection of Orange and Main Streets. In that accident, a westbound motorcycle, driven by Prestley, struck the rear of a westbound SUV, driven by Paxton M. DeGroot, 30, Morrison. Prestley was transported to Morrison Hospital by Morrison Ambulance, and later transferred to Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA, for treatment of injuries as a result of the collision. DeGroot was not injured. Prestley’s motorcycle was considered a total loss. The DeGroot SUV received damages in excess of $500. Prestley was issued a notice to appear in court on the charges. Prestley is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On 07-30-04, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Arthur L. Weaver, Morrison reported that someone had broken his yard light at 507 North Madison Street. The damage occurred some time the previous night. The replacement cost of the light is estimated at $50.
